To my understanding, i know that being unemployed and sponsoring your spouse is not an issue.
What I AM wondering is what to write on the additional page they ask for regarding "how you plan to support yourself"

In a nutshell, at the moment I've written about 200 words (half a page), describing that we are fortunate enough to have BOTH our parents fully support both my spouse and myself financially. I've mentioned that they have supported us during our 6 year medical studies, as kind of proof of their capability. That we are currently living comfortably without any compromise. Ive also written that we are unemployed because our focus is on studying and passing the medical licensing exams, and that should the situation ever arise, we are more than willing to work to sustain and secure ourselves a future in Canada. Afterall we are young and able bodied individuals.

Honestly, I'm not sure what other points i should be touching on, if anyone wants to critique what ive written i would be more than happy to PM you what ive written so far. Aside from that, i would like to know what any of you may have written (what points did you mention etc.)

As always thanks! :)

PS: is it possible to upvote or "rep" people on this forum? I would love to do so, considering this forum has been invaluable to me!

Your explanation is fine. I would add something about your future earning potential once you are both done your studies. I would also have both sets of parents write letters stating that they are supporting you. Having the letters notarized would be a good idea.

If you look to the left, you'll see member's names and profiles. Underneath, there are "Good" and "Poor" buttons.

I greatly appreciate the advice!

I wonder though, do you think not having written letters would be detrimental to my application? I'm asking simply because I'm not in the position or scenario to have this done within my specific time frame, and since this is the first time im hearing something like this, it has gotten me worried :-[

If at least one of you was employed or if you guys had some savings/investments/etc., I wouldn't worry about not having letters. But since you don't have any of those and your parents are fully supporting you guys, I would not submit the app without letters from them. Can they not at least type up something today and email it to you?

If thats the case then im sure i can find a way to have the letters. The truth is though, I actually DO have a part time job. The reason why I opted to choose unemployed is because i haven't been employed for the 12 months time frame they're asking me to fill in (only been working about a month), and the money I get is honestly nothing more than casual spending money or just savings, after all it is just minimum wage. Not to mention some weeks ill work more, and some less due to my study schedule.
With that being said our financial scenario is sound, though I just felt that since i havent been working for 12 months and i honestly dont make more than 1k per month, i didnt think it would be passable for them.

Ugh, sorry for this. I'm constantly worried about these applications and i have a feeling i may have made a dumb mistake had it not been for these forums.

We were kind of in a similar situation, my partner did his masters last year in Aus so had only worked for two weeks of 2014. He is working now but his option C from last year showed a very low income. At the time we sent our application in he had only been working for about six weeks, we sent in no proof of his income other than the letter from his supervisor. We also provided a notarized letter from his mum stating that we were living at the family home (she put this in the letter about our relationship). He was just approved to sponsor me :)

I would include the part time work in the application, even at such a low amount it demonstrates you're willing to make the effort to support yourselves.

I'm glad to hear he was approved to sponsor you! :)
I have a couple more questions if y'all wouldn't mind. I will be starting a new job in about 2 weeks (changing jobs to have a more consistent schedule, rather than being on call). I would like to wait until i'm working at the new workplace, and put that as my primary employment in the application, though I'm concerned what i should put in the application for "net income" since I haven't gotten a monthly pay check yet. (obviously because i haven't started in the new workplace yet :P)

What do you guys think, should i wait until I make a months worth of salary at the new job and write that amount in the application? I'm concerned because id like to get the application out ASAP and dont know if i should wait or not. I suppose i should get my supervisor or manager to write something explaining im a new employee, right?

One more thing, do you think it would be acceptable to add an additional written paper, like i initially mentioned, which explains that all of our finances are covered by our parents, and that the work im doing is just a means of additional income, even though we are in no need for additional finances?

Thanks so much for you input :D :D

When you say net income are you referring to Q.3 on the Sponsorship evaluation form? It asks for the preceding 12 months so you would still include the income from the job you are leaving. As part of the application you need to get a letter from your employer stating your wage, hours and duration of employment. I'm not sure how far along you are in the process, but if you still need police checks and medicals etc that could take some time and depending on the country they are coming from you may get a paycheck beforehand.

I think the additional info is a good idea, but as canuck said you would still need letters from them.
