Hi there if someone applies for citizenship and then leaves canada under the old rule

And thus the new rule comes in effect

The intend to reside clause will it just be in effect for applicants who applied in the new form in the new rule

Or

Will the intend to reside be applicable only to the people who applied in the new form in the new rule

very confusing but it is a matter for regarding the immigrants

Hope to get reply soon

Thanks

Intend to reside in Canada is essentially already in effect. If you don't want to live in Canada, don't apply for citizenship, pretty simple. Why do you want to become a citizen and live somewhere else anyway?!

That's my way of freedom

Every citizen should have his or her mobility rights

And you are giving a wrong information

The intend to reside is not in effect

Will be soon

i think (Senior correct me if im wrong) this is applicable for the new applicant that will fall on the new rules

The "intend to reside" clause will only apply to those who applied under the new rule.

But as far as I know, officers are already issuing RQ if they feel the applicant is not intending to reside in Canada. Maybe I am wrong.

I believe unofficially the intend to reside is already in effect. that's why they give everybody such a hard time by issuing all these residency questionaries for various reasons.

You answered your own question, every CITIZEN should have mobility right. You are not a citizen yet, so CIC can question your motive / intention before giving you citizenship.

That was my understanding as well.

The difference is that the applicant will still eventually get citizenship despite being given RQ under the old rule. Under the new rule, the applicant can be denied citizenship if he/she violated the "intend to reside" clause. Big Difference.

But I think that if you acquire citizenship and leave shortly after , CIC can take away your citizenship under the pretext that you made misrepresentation when you declared that you intend to live in Canada before acquiring citizenship. The new bill gives the minister of citizenship and immigration the authority to revoke citizenship by his own discretion.

Mobility right gives Canadian Citizens the right to live and work wherever they want. Nobody can take your citizenship away because you have decided to live somewhere else.

The right to work only applies to Canada..
