Hi,

Sorry if this has been answered quiet a few time before. I'm curious if my Uncle living in Ontario would be able to sponsor me. I'm currently living in Vancouver and have an IEC 2 year working visa.
I'll be eligible to apply for permanent residency anyway.

My Uncle and his Irish wife have been here for 30 years and have no kids or any other relatives but do have plenty of family back in Ireland. From what I've read in other threads it seems like I may have to be their only living relative or have I misunderstood this point?

Thanks for any help.

See option two. Your uncle cannot sponsor you.

Just for clarification you say they have no relatives but plenty of family in Ireland - so they do have relatives, no?

.

No, they can have as many relatives as they want. However in order to sponsor someone like a cousin/nephew, ALL these conditions must be satisfied by the sponsor (in this case your uncle):
- must not have a spouse or common-law partner
- must not have any kids
- must not have any living parents
- must not have any relatives who are already Canadian citizens or PR

Since your uncle is married, that on it's own disqualifies him to sponsor you.
