I sponsored my wife and she got her immigrant visa, which will expire in 1week. Her father just got surgery and might undergo chemotherapy. Is there any way to request visa extension? Anything at all to consider her situation?

You sponsored your wife for PR? Unfortunately no, they do not offer extensions. She needs to land in Canada before the expiry date or else you will have to start the Sponsorship application all over again.

What are the chances of getting approved again after re-application?

I'm not sure. I'd like to believe it would be easy since they just assessed you and approved you, but it could go the opposite way and they may scrutinize you more since they may take it as your wife not being serious about moving to Canada. If you choose to reapply I would include a letter in your application regarding the circumstances as to why your wife was not able to land. When did she get approved?

Your situation is very unfortunate........your wife probably should have earlier done a soft landing......land in Canada as PR, and go back home immediately.........with plan to return at a later date..............if she cannot enter Canada before or on the expiry date shown on your visa.......the document cannot be extended......and will have to re-apply and go thru the same waiting stress......

She got her visa in March, her father was rushed to the hospital 2nd week of May.
Okay so not a long time but still 3 months. But I would expect immigration to ask why she left it until the last few weeks/month to come when she could have come in March or April.

Anyhow, you still have one week left. If you don't want to go through another stressful waiting period, just book a two way ticket TODAY, and your wife still have enough time to do a soft landing, then go back home in the same day or next day, after the soft landing.

I agree with @Miraclejj, doing a soft landing will be much easier than having to reapply. She does not have to stay in Canada... she can land and return to her home country all in the same day if she wanted to.

I agree. The flight may be expensive but reapply will also cost you.

Doesn't matter. As long as you arrive before the expiry date nobody will care.

You can try asking for an extension but chances are low.

If she can't land, you can sponsor her again without issue.
