I have a question if someone could help.

I am married and my wife has a 8 year old child from previous marriage. I’d be the only one going so I’ve applied with them as un-accompanying.

I have been invited to apply and I’m about to do the medical exam.

I have realized that the child’s passport will expire soon, but it will be valid at the time of the medical exam. My question if will the passport being expired be a problem later in the application, seeing how there is an option of a child not having a passport, and then he is un-accompanying member?

And another question is would I need his biological father’s consent to apply for myself for Canadian visa at this time.

Thank you.

You definitely don't need his biological father's consent for your own visa. You may need it for your son's visa, unless your wife has sole custody. But not for your own, or your wife's, for that matter.

I'm not sure about your first question, so I'll let someone else answer that.
