If we apply online to visa office in England, do they ask for passport in case of a rejection?
I mean if they ask to send passport does that mean visa is approved?

It depends.... on how they requested your passport. Usually the requestes has something like: "to finalize the process". If this is the case then it has been approved.

Thanks Jalex I appreciate your reply. Yes it does say "to finalize the process". It was application for my mother I hope she gets the visa.
I clicked "Good" as per your instructions :
Do you have any example of how they ask passport in case of rejection, or may be they don't ask for PP at all & just send an explanatory email etc..!!! Just curious.!

They don't ask for a passport with rejections. You just get a letter with visa refused and a generic letter with ticked boxes annotated with broad vague statements like 'lack of travel history' etc.
