Hello everyone,

I wanted to connect with others who applied from Uganda last year and hear about your experiences and timelines.

My husband’s refugee sponsorship application was submitted in the first week of October 2025, and he received the G number in October 2025 as well. Since then, we are still waiting for further updates.

Sometimes the waiting and silence become emotionally difficult, especially being separated from family, so I thought it would help to hear from others going through the same process.

For those who applied in 2025 from Uganda:

  • How has your process been so far?
  • Have you received AOR, medical requests, interviews, or passport requests yet?
  • How long did it take for movement after the G number?

Please share your experience if you are comfortable. It would really encourage us during this waiting period.

And please keep us in your prayers as we continue hoping and waiting for reunion soon.

Sorry hun but be strong and try to distract yourself, otherwise it usually is a long ride. After the AOR everything looks hopeful.
And again everyone's journey is different. Some take long and others take short times.
Try to meet up with your husband at least twice a year in a neutral country as you wait, then you can keep the bond and mostly it will put a smile on your face.
Me and my wife plus the kids meet up twice a year in different countries and trust me it makes a huge difference while we wait for the longest journey of our lives. My daughter was born in Uganda ( when i was already in Canada) I only met her when she was 1 year old and 4months. The small vacations that we have create a change coz she now knows me and always looks forward to seeing me on the next trip.
Sad but its the reality and the truth. Your patience is key in this process.
Have a beautiful time and stay strong.
