@PricncessCRV and @saddlepatch, are you guys talking about the same approach?

@PrincessCRV, it sounds like you chose option 1 from the FBI website where you give your email and then you get a link with a pin, fill out the application and send your finger prints in the mail? Using DS-258 card (which has to be printed at home? How do we print it? How do we fill it?)

@saddlepatch, it sounds like you went in person to a list on channeler from the FBI website?

Which approach is better?
Thanks a bunch

Yes we went to a finger printing place that we found on the list of channelers. They didn't submit anything for us, but we did the online form and sent in the fingerprints separate as instructed.

We went thru the electronic route with the FBI, we went over to the police station in Detroit and paid 5 dollars for the card. Got that taken care of and we sent it in the mail.

Any idea when we'll hear an answer back?

Mine took less than a week once they received the fingerprint card.

We got the report back. That was fast, we sent the fingerprint card on Friday after hours and we got the report today.
The report says: bla bla bla then THIS DOES NOT PRECLUDE FURTHER CRIMINAL HISTORY AT THE STATE OR LOCAL LEVEL, would this report be sufficient or do we have to go to the city and state police and get a report from them as well?

Another thing is, when I filed for the report, I did not fill in her middle name (She has a middle name on her passport), would this be a problem?

All the reports have that disclaimer about the state or local level. You do not need to provide anything else now. If the background check turns up something, they would then potentially ask you to get other clearances or court records. This is much later in the process though. Regarding the middle name, did you have the FBI print her SSN on the document? It was an optional request to check off on the application. I had them do that on mine just in case since I recently changed my name. That would help with verification, although I would think if the address and other info matched, it would still be okay.

Everything else matches. It shows the last 4 digits of her SSN, I guess I can include a copy of her SSN card...? Hope this won't be an issue.

I don't think you need to send in a copy of her SS card. I was only thinking if they questioned it, you would have something to help prove it. I think you will be fine if everything else matches.
