Hello everyone,

I've used the CRS tool to calculate my scores and got stuck at the "level of education" step. I have a 4 year bachelor's degree (that's already been assessed) and I'm about to take the LEED GA exam to become a certified professional. Do you know if the latter qualifies me for "two or more" certificates/degrees?

I'm asking because that will be my push from 416 to 446 which should hopefully qualify me to apply for the next round...

Thanks and any advice is appreciated!
Rae

Hi RaeZ,
As far as I know, none of the Educational Credential Assessment Services assess Certifications (only tertiary level degrees, diplomas, and certificates), and you would need the ECA (Educational Credential Assessment) in order to claim the points for the qualification. (I know this because I have a professional certification as well and realized after a lot of research and inquiries with the ECA Organizations that it wasn't going to help me in any way).

However, if your CRS Score is currently sitting at 516, you're absolutely fine! The current 'threshold' score for getting an ITA is around 440. If you submit a profile with a CRS Score of 516, you're golden! So stop worrying about your LEED GA certification and just get your ECA and language test results ASAP so you can submit your profile and get your ITA! :)

Hey crescent_jam, thanks for your response! That was a typo that I'm glad you mentioned. My score is 416 and would be 446 if my LEED GA credential is counted. I wish it was in the 500 range!

So were you able to send your professional certification to ECA in the end or not?

Thanks for your response again :)

No, I wasn't; they don't assess certifications. Additionally, I did a quick Google search and your certification appears to be US-based (correct me if I'm wrong). Mine is also US-Based. Canada doesn't accept US-based certifications. They have their own national certifications. So I'm pretty sure you definitely can't use it. :(

That's too bad. I'll look more into it just to make sure it's not recognized in Canada, because I believe I read about a partnership between the US and Canada Green Building branches. It's a last drop of hope before I move on to an alternative solution.

Yes, definitely do research and don't lose hope. For my US-based certification, there are Canadian equivalents - but a silver lining is that I get 'points' for my current certification that fast tracks me toward getting the Canadian equivalent if and when I get PR, so I'll be working on getting that sorted out if and when I land.

I think it might have to be the same for me, but thanks for the advice - I'll see what I can do. Best of luck with your PR and everything afterwards!

Hi Were you able to find out if LEED AP certification can be used for ECA to increase points?

Hi All,

One query. I have done my bachelors in India and i am planning to do a certification from Canada. While i calculate the CRS score, i am confused that in my Level of education what should i give?
Bachelor's or 'Two or more certificate/diplom/degree?
Again another ques is like, "Have you earned a canadian degree or diploma or certificate"?

Quite confused. What is the answer for both questions?

Thanks in advance.
