My wife is Brazilian and Portuguese. She has 2 passports. We traveled once to the USA and she used her portuguese passport. Should I submit both her passports on the application?

Technically no, but she should upload a brief letter of explanation (that she has never been there), because IRCC will likely assume (given her passport) that she could have lived there...

Since Portugal is visa-exempt in Canada and Brazil is not, she should use the Portugal one primarily if you choose to upload both passports. CIC would figure this out on their own, but it won't hurt to also mention this in the letter of explanation.

Thank you for the advice! I'm afraid it may create some confusion since all her degrees are Brazilians, bank account and everything else. She has never been there, she acquired it because her dad is Portuguese.

Yeah, but this will all be explained in her personal and address history, which is required to fill out.

Then again, there's always been cases of trigger-happy support agents when there are so-called missing PCCs, that's why the letter of explanation she's never been to Portugal + dual citizenship via parents + both passports would help.

That's a good idea.
I'm already set to get her PCC from Portugal as well as Brazil. I won't leave it to chance if I can.

Yeah, great initiative, good thinking. I was about to ask if it's difficult to get a Portuguese PCC from Brazil, might as well go for it if it doesn't hurt.

Pretty sure SPVO is used to cases like these, but you'd have to conquer the completeness check in Canada first.

Brazilian is too easy, it can be taken from the government website.
It seems Portugal has launched a similar initiative but the website has been down the whole day. Since I only found out about it today, I wonder if it was taken off or if it's just temporary. :-( In the worst case scenario she will have to go to the consulate to get one. It's in a nearby neighborhood, so it won't hurt to drop by. ;-)

Hello @pplupo , finally you got the PCC from Portugal? My wife needs it, and we first applied to get it by mail. They sent it to her but with no stamp or signature, only with a code that can be introduced to a website to verify the certificate. Later we asked about it and they said if is sent by post (to a Portuguese address) it comes with a stamp. We order it again and sent it to a friend of hers in Portugal, but she received exactly the same certificate...

How about yours? it comes with a stamp or the code only.
And, have you translate it? It's bilingual in Portuguese and English, but there is some word as "passaporte" or the nationality that is only in Portuguese.
