Hi there, I'm an international student. Last year, I was in a community support program which offers a 2 year diploma or optional 1 year exit with an 1 year certificate.Because I didn't like that program, I decided to take the certificate and change to Applied accounting program which also offers an 1 year certificate. I have just finished the first semester of accounting with 4.33 GPA and going to take the second semester soon. Btw, during those 2 years, I also took A LOT part time courses from the college as personal interests and the GPA is also 4+. I'd like to know when I apply post-graduate work permit after graduating from the Applied Accounting program (which I would have two 1 year certificates), what would be the time limit for the work permit?

I'm in Manitoba and probably going chose provincial immigration. If I got a less than 1 year work permit, how could I complete my immigration, as the work permit will expire before the earliest possible time I could get my immigration done. (I will need to work full time for 6 month and then apply permanent residency, which would take another 6-12 months processing)

thanks a lot for answering!

You would likely be eligible for a 1 year PGWP. You can only combine 2 one-year programs (for a 3-year PGWP) if the 2nd one is a master's degree.

There is no guarantee that studying in Canada will lead to PR. If you can't complete the eligibility requirements for PR, then, you won't become a PR. If you need to stay longer and work after the PGWP, you would have to find an employer willing to apply for an LMO and obtain a temporary work permit.
