TRV Visit Visa - Background check is now approaching 3 months

Starting a thread to share timelines specifically related to duration of background check.

Applied for TRV visit visa on 5th of Jan 2025
Elegibility completed on 19th of Feb 2025
Background check started 19th of Feb 2025
Silence since then.

Some context: I am an Iraqi citizen residing in Oman since 2010 and reason for visit is to attend my daughter's graduation ceremony on the 17th of June. It appears the VO has determined that I have a valid reason for my visit and have every reason to return.

Can others share there timelines, specifically those that are seeing similar prolongued periods for "background check".

This is not an unusual processing time and although eligibility has technically passed wouldn’t say thar VO has determined you have genuine reason to visit and strong ties to return. Often refusal comes after BG check even though refusal is unrelated to the background check.

For more context, completion of Eligibility 90 days ago (as of today) without receiving a refusal letter and the application moving to "background check" strongly suggests that VO has found me "the applicant" eligible. Actually, according to IRCC policy manuals (operational bulletin 476 and enforcement manual ENF 1): a refusal based on elibigibility usually terminates further processing unless there is cause to refer the application for enforcement or inadmissibility review". You seem to believe refusal is imminent, can you clarify if you don't mind. I'm genuinely requesting feedback, not challenging you whatsoever.

Didn’t indicate it was imminent but that approval was not guaranteed.

Yes I agree
