TRV or Family Class Sponsorship? Both?

Hello,

I want to get suggestions on what path to take.

Background info
- I'm a Canadian and very recently married a Filipina, in the Philippines.
- Relationship is currently 11 months
- Only 1 visit, for 3 weeks, to get married

Fear of rejection
- PR, but i'm worried we don't have enough proof of our relationship and/or of it being genuine.
- TRV, but worried about her stronger ties here in Canada, due to being married to me.

I was thinking of trying TRV, then apply for PR while she's here. Her visit would count towards 2 total visits, that we could use for the PR spousal sponsorship, also the paperwork would be easier in-person.

Additionally, if the TRV was rejected due to her strong ties in Canada, we could use that as an example for an immigration barrier in our application for PR.

What are your suggestions?

You can certainly apply for a TRV. Unfortunately the chances are very high that it will be refused due to the fact that her spouse is Canadian and it won't take a rocket scientist to figure out that you're probably using the TRV as a means of bringing her to Canada long term. But by all means give it a try - maybe you'll get lucky. Include as much evidence as possible of her ties to her home country (job, property owned, etc.). I'm not sure what you mean by using the TRV as an example of an immigration barrier in our application for PR. Showing immigration barriers doesn't come into play anywhere in the PR application unless you are applying as a conjugal couple (which you are not).

It's too bad you married her during your first trip together. This is generally not recommended as it increases the likelihood CIC may think the marriage is not genuine (at least on the part of one party) and can increase your overall processing time. But what's done is done.

If the TRV is refused, you should really visit her at least one more time before submitting the sponsorship application - two if possible.
