TRV Extension short visit

Hi Everyone,

We have a friend coming to visit from Russia in Jan 2017 her application was approved passport request sent. If we wanted to get an extension on her visit is it possible? We only originally asked for 10 day visit, If so when would we need to apply?

By default, visitor has up to 6 months to stay in Canada legally from the time of entry. However, visitor status will go with the date specified by CBSA officer at the time of entry if any.

Your friend has to show up at the airport to see if CBSA officers will write a date on her passport at the time of entry.

From there, you will see if there is a need for extension.

Thanks for the info. So if its only 10 days can we apply for example the 2 nd day she is here? Will she have implied status? Thanks

Yes - you can apply to extend her stay. Yes - she will have implied status until a decision is made.

She got multi entry first time ;D also its good till 2023 so that is a bonus.
