Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out for advice on a pressing issue regarding our Canada TRV applications. Although our applications were approved, we missed the passport submission window — and now over 7 months have passed since the Passport Request (PPR) was issued.

My husband and I applied for our TRVs on 14 September 2024, and the PPR was issued on 23 October 2024. Unfortunately, we never received any email notification from IRCC about the new message in our accounts. We checked all inboxes, including spam and junk folders, but no alert was ever received.

To complicate things further, we were travelling abroad during the 30-day window, and only discovered the PPR message in our IRCC accounts on 25 November 2024, well after the submission deadline. We rushed to book an appointment and went to VFS, but were told that their system wouldn’t accept our passports anymore as the submission deadline had passed.

VFS advised us to email the Singapore visa office, which we did right away — but we’ve received no response. We also submitted multiple web forms to IRCC explaining the situation and requesting guidance, but again, no replies.

This trip is incredibly important to us because our daughter is graduating in Canada in October 2025, and we had planned to attend her convocation. We’re deeply concerned that this delay might affect our ability to be there for her.

As of today, our IRCC online portal still shows the following message:

Final decision – October 23, 2024: Your application was approved. You need to send us your valid passport to finalize your application. Check your messages below for details.

We’re not sure how to proceed:
  1. Should we go back to VFS and request to submit the passports with a detailed cover letter explaining the missed deadline, email issue, and our travel outside the country?
  2. Or should we abandon the approved application and reapply from scratch, even though the portal still shows the application as approved?
If anyone has faced a similar situation or can share suggestions, we would be incredibly grateful.

Thank you so much for your time and support.

You can do it in parallel. Start a new application and try to get a new PPR.
This. You can submit a webform using your application number and explaining what happened. In parallel, just submit a new application and also explain what happened. Whatever they process first.
