TRV approved but may not travel

Hi - My in-laws have got TRV for 1 year, but my brother in law got a rejection. We re-applied for him with stronger paperwork, but it is still in process. The problem is that my in-laws can only travel in early June due to their type of profession. They can not come in any other month, and by June 2016, their visa would have expired.

My question is would it look bad on their record if they don't use their issued visa. Would it cause any problems when they apply for visa next time?
