Hi everyone,
As the title says, I'm an H&C applicant with an approval in principle recieved in April 2025, I have a valid Open Work Permit and a valid Temporary Residency Permit (both till May 2026).
Recently applied to renew those two documents as I know it can take awhile. I thought I'd ask the question here, as I'm getting conflicting information from the IRCC website.
My understanding is thus:
When my TRP & OWP expire, I will NOT benefit from "maintained status" as a TRP holder (presuming that I don't receive my PR or new permits before then), therefore I would have to leave Canada and stop working.
However, conflicting information I've read on the IRCC website says that I would be okay to continue working and therefore stay in the country, as I've already applied for new documents.
Lastly, am I right in thinking that I cannot leave Canada whilst my H&C Application is in-process? As the application would then be considered "abandoned" and therefore be denied.
If anyone can shed some light on this, that would be great.
Cheers!
