Hi. I am an Ukrainian citizen. I live in the USA. I have asylum status in the USA. I have a travel document i-571 that I'm supposed to use as a passport when I travel. My Ukrainian passport is expired and I obviously can't get a new one because of my asylee status.
I am trying to apply for a Canadian tourist visa. I do it online. In the questionnaire section, it asks me: "Select the code that matches the one on your passport". If I answer: "USA" the system tells me "You can't immigrate to Canada". I guess It's because US citizens don't need a visa to Canada. Since I have Asylum status I still need a visa to Canada.
If I answer UKR (Ukraine) in the questionnaire section then it asks me to provide a list of documents. The application IMM5257 is one of them. In the application IMM5257 in the section "passport" I put refugee document (i-571) as my travel passport. When I submit the application it gives me an error saying: " We couldn't upload your file, reason: you entered a different value for a country of nationality of your passport (online questionnaire ) and passport - Country of issue (PDF)".
I can't also put my Ukrainian passport in the IMM5257 application because it expired and I can't get a new one. I am supposed to travel with US travel document (i-571)
What should I do? I will appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
