Hi everyone,

I’m a UK citizen that needs Recognized Organization (RO) support for my IEC Working Holiday permit. But I’m confused how the rules apply to my situation. Several RO’s are saying they cannot support me as I’m considered a repeat participant.

Can anyone please explain this piece of IRCC guidance?
“Participations that occurred before the 2016 season do not count toward the 2 participations.

A previous participation in an IEC country or territory that has a YMA with Canada does not count as a participation with a recognized organization.”

In 2015, I applied successfully on my own. I landed in 2016, but had to leave after 2 months. Yet this guidance seems to waive my first participation!

Am I - or are they - misunderstanding?

@Naturgrl thanks so much for your reply.

You’re right, UK citizens only get to participate once (directly). But this link / information specifically refers to using a recognised organisation, which can support people to apply again - if eligible - so 2 further participations.

My issue is that some of the RO’s seem to be treating my direct one as an entry for them. This info seems to say direct entries do not/should not be counted.

Confusing!

Very confusing as you have to go through an RO. You have time to figure it out as IECs haven been processed in a year & if you had one, you need a job offer to enter Canada.

True, that said IRCC have been processing existing apps. I’m actually already here, as a visitor anyway, but wanted to get my plan/route in order.

Thanks for your input

The last round of invitations for IEC was a year ago. So they have a year of applications to get through.
