Hi,
I was doing some research on the internet and came upon this website.

So basically I am a high school senior studying in Macedonia that wants to come back to Canada to for college/university. You heard right I was to come back to Canada. Thats because I lived in Canada for 10 years ever since I was six and left with my mom and Canadian born siblings to eastern europe.

I was born in Macedonia(a small country you've probably never heard of in eastern europe), when I turned 3 years old my mom and I went to The u.s to join my dad which is also born in Macedonia. Its all very complicated but the fact of the matter is my parents were living in the united states under the grounds of a work visa. Although my father had been touring America on his parents money before I was born and fell in love with the land. After my parents work visa expired we decided to move to Canada and apply as an immigrant. Although are claim was denied over and over despite the fact that my parents didn't rely on government welfare and were steady tax payers with a clean criminal record.

Roughly two months ago my my mom and 4 Canadian born sibling's decided to temporarily relocate to Macedonia. While my father remain's in Canada to work. In case their is a misunderstanding he is not their illegally. He pays taxes like everyone else, has a drivers licence, is paying rent for our town house and all that.

As my username obviously implies I am homesick and after completing senior year here in Macedonia and want to apply to a Canadian university. Just to be clear I am not in need of a scholarship or any kind of financial aid. Both of my parents have been long time clients at the royal bank of Canada and I personally have access to over 10,000 CAD. I would also like to add I am attending an english language Turkish based private school in Macedonia and speak fluent english.

What steps would I need to take to return to Canada and study their?

EDIT: I would like to add that I plan on becoming a citizen eventually and living the rest of my life in Canada.

dude, as you said your dad is not immigrant here but only on work permit(right)...?
SO it would not be a problem for you, as canada has increased visa rate for eastern european coutries.
You do not need to do ielts, as you have done schooling in english in canada(right), So just choose university according to your choice of program..
And you will be good to go!!!
DO not worry, there are many countries which we are not aware of.. like Liechtenstein(heard about that), i got one friend from there

Yes he is living in Canada only on a work permit and yes I have steadily attending school in Canada since grade 1. Would I have to apply as an international student? I am currently attending grade 12 in a Macedonian school, is their any tests I need to do and can I apply prior to graduation and wait for a reply after receiving my high school diploma?

I have some Idea for what I have to do but just to be clear.

Step 1: Apply to the university of my choice as a international student
Step 2: get accepted
step 3: get a student visa
step 4: purchase a plane ticket and go to Canada

P.S Liechtenstein is a beautiful country, sad that it doesnt get as much attention as Austria.

Yes - those are the right steps. Yes - you will have to apply as an international student and pay international student fees (only Canadian citizens and PRs pay domestic fees). You'll need to show a bank balance that covers: first year tuition + $10K living expenses + $2-3K travel expenses. You will also need to demonstrate that you have strong ties to Macedonia and plan to return once your studies in Canada have been completed (i.e. don't plan to remain in Canada long term).

I actually do plan and remaining in Canada and eventually becoming a citizen. As I said I lived in Canada most of my childhood and have only recently left. I have friends in Canada and have attended school their since I was in grade 1. So I do eventually plan on becoming a citizen.

If you can't demonstrate strong ties to Macedonia, it's quite possible you will run into problems getting the study visa approved. If you read through the threads in this section of the forum, you'll see that a common reason for refusal is lack of ties to the home country and CIC not being satisfied that a person will leave Canada once their studies are complete. Here's one example:

is their a proper way to apply for permanent residency as well as a student visa?

Although I do have strong ties. I am on the will to my grandfathers house in Macedonia. My grandeparents are citizens of the country and have lived their all their lives. I have aunts and uncles, cousins that are willing to state their affiliation with my officially and unofficially. Although its all just family ties. The country in reality is quite foreign to me and I would very much like to live my life in Canada rather then in Macedonia.

Unfortunately there's no formal process that combines applying for PR with applying for a study permit.

Try for the study permit and emphasize your ties to Macedonia. There's certainly a chance you'll be approved.

If that fails, then I would focus on qualifying to immigrate through either the Federal Skilled Worker or one of the Provincial Nominee programs.

Would love to. But see I am just a high school student. I have no skills, thats why I am going to university.

Is their a program that would allow me to study and work for a permanent residency?

If not and I decide to go the student visa route. Could I theoretically apply for permanent residency during the visa's duration? Would purchasing a property or invest in the national bank help?

What i am asking is. Is their some kind of a transition I could make while the visa remains valid?

No - there is no program that specifically allows you to work and study for permanent residency.

Yes - you can apply for PR while you are here on a study visa if you qualify to apply for PR. Simply being in Canada on a study visa does not qualify you to apply for PR.

No - purchasing property and/or investments in a national bank will not help.

Your best bet is to hope that the study visa is approved and to complete a diploma / degree from a recognized school in Canada. You can then apply for a post graduate work permit once you have finished your studies. You will then qualify to apply for PR through the Canadian Experience Class program once you have complete one year of paid full time work experience in a skilled occupation. The first step is obviously the study visa.

Hope this helps.

I plan on studying for 4 years( possibly more) in university. How long does a student visa last and can it be renewed?
