I am currently an exchange visitor in US and have my Masters starting in Canada on 1st September.
I applied on 24th may for study permit through online application, but got a refusal around 28th June because the visa officer without any interviews or demanding explanation , decided that because I am currently on an exchange program in US, I might stay in canada after studies and thus rejected my application.
I reapplied back immediately on 28th June and despite the average processing time of 3 weeks, haven't heard anything from them (this is the 6th week) except that my medical results passed.
Since in US, the study permits are processed by LA office, I mailed them and the only reply I get back is your application is in the queue (no shit, sherlock)
I don't know what to do, it takes 2 weeks + mailing time to get the visa stamped after your get the approval letter and I still haven't been asked for the passport. My masters starts on 1st September and I am feeling that it might get cancelled because of the apathy of these people. Does anyone know, what I should do in this situation?
(Note: I also mailed the main office in Canada through the web form, they just forward it to LA office and I don't get any response back)

There's really nothing you can do but wait and hope for the best.

Hello, did you get that rejection noticed after or before they requested your medicals (if they did)?

4 days after my medical results were passed, I got the rejection notice.
For the new application, it has been 2 weeks since my medicals were passed, and I haven't got any update since then.

Ah ok, so you actually did your medical exam before the rejection. I say this because usually after they request the medical exam it is not likely that they would reject an application.

Hey guys, so I just found out that I since I am an exchange visitor , I am supposed to submit proof of my resident status in US. This is quite surprising since this is not a required document or mentioned anywhere when you fill the application, it is just mentioned if you go on the help section for a question within the application. This explains why my application was rejected earlier but this also puts my new application in danger of being rejected. While I have mailed the la immigration office , my visa stamp and my DS2019 to attach to my application requesting them that it is very urgent, since I am not sure if they will act on this and I don't have time for applying for a new application, can someone please advice what I should do. I am pretty worried now that even though I have provided a letter of explanation in my new application, it will still get rejected because of this lack of proof of residence (they don't even ask for it, just reject is straight ahead and it is not mentioned in the list of required documents).
What should I do to modify my application, I am really worried it will get rejected and I will have to give up my masters.
