Travelling Outside Of Canada On A OWP

Hey Everyone,

From what I understand, that there is no guarantee when you have an OWP that you can get back into the country afterwards and we already submitted the application for Inland and put in for the OWP and were told it takes up to 6 months to receive from several sources.

Now, question.

My husband (Jamaican) has been requested by a tour promoter in Germany to do a 2 week tour come July.
Now we are willing to risk it, BUT I still want to avoid all that trouble. What are the steps too take in order to avoid this.

There's nothing you can do to avoid the risk of refusal completely (apart from remaining in Canada).

He should bring proof that he has an ongoing inland application.

Make sure you have a Plan B in place (i.e. what you will do in the event he is refused entry and you have to refile outland with him outside of Canada).

Yes, we have decided that Plan B would be for him to go home and refile outland in the worst case.

I think that having a job letter from his employer, the OWP, the proof that an application is going on inside canada, and if I am going with him as well with out marriage certificate ect may help.

Has anyone here left the country on a OWP and was able to re-enter the country afterwards (And comes from a country in which needs a Visitor visa?)

There are certainly people here who have managed to return with non-visa exempt passports. Some unfortunately who have been refused entry as well. Good luck.

Does he have a valid multiple entry visa? If he doesn't, he would need to apply for a new one. There is no guarantee that he would get it.

Okay thanks @MilesAway, I will look into it. Going to call them as well to see what can be done. Ugh, life of a songwriter and international artist. Not everything is glamorous lol.
