Travelling on a W-1 Visa (Worker)

Hello guys,
I graduated from a Canadian University and got a Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) based on that. After that I acquired my W-1 (Worker) Visa in May, 2014.

I had to go back to my home country and due to some family commitments, my stay got delayed and I will be returning in March, 2015. Just wanted to make sure that whether I will be allowed to enter Canada or not? (Somebody confused me by saying that you only have 6 months to return, which seems a little absurd)

What is the validity of your current work permit?

If it is not expiring anytime soon or has a couple of months left when you enter Canada you should be good. If its a closed work permit the immigration sometimes calls the employer to check whether you are still employed with them.

I have an open work permit which is valid uptil may, 2017 (and so is my W1 visit visa)

So according to what you said, I should be okay while I enter Canada.

I would really appreciate if you could provide me a link from CIC
