Hi! I am traveling on TRV to Canada. I got multiple visa for three years.
Can I take all my gold jewelry along?
I have a couple of heavy gold sets. Can I take them? I know the customs department Is v strict. How much can I take so I don't get taxed?

Re: Traveling on TRV: can I take my gold jewelry along? If yes, how much?

Are you taking this jewelry to wear yourself for your six month visit?

If this is a gift for someone in Canada, then the following rule applies:

You can import gifts for friends into Canada duty- and tax-free as long as each gift is valued at CAN$60 or less. If the gift is worth more than CAN$60, you will have to pay duty and taxes on the excess amount.

No, I'm taking it for myself. Please advise.

Also, can I work part time jobs on trv?

Yes, you can bring it if it is yours and you intend to go back with it after you leave.

If it is too much then you will be needing to carry with you either the receipts or some sort of documentation that proves it is yours (insurance is common when travelling with jewels like diamonds). This is specially the case with new jewelry as it might raise suspicion you could want to sell it. Old jewelry that shows it has been worn several times is not a huge deal.
