Hello everyone.

I'm currently in India and I'm considering moving to Canada on TRV in the month of April after my Biometrics and medical clearance. I currently hold just a TRV.

Can you guys suggest me if this a decent decision or should I stay back in India for the rest of the process? Does changing from outland to Virtual landing(inland) make the process slower?

Given a choice, I would like to travel to Canada in April. Any suggestions are appreciated

Do you have the TRV as a Visitor or student or work permit holder?

I applied for TRV during work permit in 2021. Back then they gave us TRV as visitors with multiple entry till the expiration date on the passport.
so you work permit is expired now? and just the TRV on passport with multiple entries, right?

Yes that's right. My work permit expired. I have TRV stamped on passport valid till Dec 2027. I recieved AOR on Feb 5th 2026 for context.
In this case, my opinion is that you should stay in India and proceed with biometrics and other things from there only.

Reason,
1. Technically, you can travel back, but IRCC and CBSA are very strict these days, and in most cases, they don't let you in if you don't have a valid study or work permit with TRV.
2. Your TRV is valid until Dec 2027, which is enough time, though, so even if CBSA/IRCC lets you in the country, you will have to renew your TRV, which will take time, efforts and a solid background to renew. i.e. if you can get a job in the meantime, where an employer can support your open work permit application or a study or spouse visa if your spouse is in Canada already with a valid status.
3. It will also depend on the CBSA and Visa office at the airport when you land, if they decide to let you in and for how many days. Even if you have a TRV until Dec 2027.
4. Also depends on how quickly they process your file and PR application; PNP EE takes +-6 months. CEC is quite faster these days, around 5 months, PNP NON EE takes almost 1.5-2 years.

So considering all these, it is better to stay in India, unless you have a family to support you here and stay or are planning to study/work and obtain a relevant visa.
