Traveling during application processing

I'm American and my fiance is Canadian. We have been planning on applying outside of Canada after we get married. I was curious if I would be able to travel in and out of Canada while the application is processing, given I have a plane ticket back to the states.
I know my fiance has the ability of traveling between the two.

Should not be a problem unless you get a cranky border officer....

Carry proof that you will return, ties to home (rent receipts, letter from employer, return tickets) and also make sure you have the receipt from paying to file your application...

Both my husband and I went back and forth and did not encounter any problems, until I got a cranky person on the US side when I was going to bring him up as a visitor no less.....but when we got to the Canadian side 5 days later, the girl was awesome...no hassles whatsoever!!
