You only need a photo ID to travel in Canada. It's very rare that CBSA does spot checks inside Canada, but it's been known to happen.

hello
i have a flight from montreal to prince edward island
i overstayed my tourist visa , and i called air canada and they told me all i needed was any goverment ID , including non canadian , (such as drivers liscense, etc) to go on a domestic flight
i want to know if anyone has dealt with this . im scared they will ask me questions as to why i dont have my peruvian passport with me.
Believe it or not, but PEI is still part of Canada..

I think the most important word here is that your ID has to be Valid

And to add, you’re a person without status in this country ,and from your previous postings for quite awhile aka way beyond the restoration window . I think you have bigger fish to fry than if you have acceptable ID to fly within this country
Just sayin....

There are no immigration controls when flying within Canada and the airline couldn't care less what your status is. Just have your valid ID and no one will question you.

Your only concern would be CBSA doing roving patrols or spot checks at the arrivals area.
Which is a very very rare risk but still possible. Canadian airlines routinely send manifests to the CBSA/police who do name checks and that sometimes spurns a spot check, but it's so rare as not to be a risk.
