Travel to Canada while waiting on work permit

Hello,

I am current in USA working on OPT which has expired. My employer has offered me a job in Canada and I’ve already applied for the work visa. It’s been over 4 weeks since I submitted my biometrics and I haven’t heard any decision on my application yet.

I’ve to leave the USA by 17th August. I have a valid Canada tourist visa. Is it possible for me to travel to Canada on my tourist visa and get the work visa stamped from Canada?

If not, what is the best alternative.
