Travel Insurance For Possessions While Travelling To Canada And For First Few Months

Hi,
Wondering if anyone can help advise me on a query i have regarding travel insurance.

Myself and my husband will be moving to Toronto from the UK in June as permanent residents
Once we leave the UK we wont have a fixed abode as for the first few months in Toronto we have booked various Air bnbs while we look for a permanent home.
We will apply for private medical insurance to cover us until we get our medical cards as we know Ontario has a 3 month waiting period.
What i am not clear on is how we can insure the possessions which will travel with us on the plane to Canada while we are in temporary accommodation and also our travel to Canada itself.
We would want cover for flight delays, etc... just in case....
We will have clothes, our phones, laptops, some jewellery, etc.
Normally this would be covered by travel insurance but as we are the leaving UK our UK travel insurance will be void.
Also as we are staying in air bnbs contents insurance would not be an option either.
How have other people dealt with this?
