Travel document

Hi

I recently got my PR and was told by the immigration officer that it would take 80 days to get your PR card.
I have to travel in a month before i can get my PR card and hence i would have to get a Travel document for my entry in Canada.
I have an Indian Passport and its not a visa exempt country.

Can someone let me know how can i approach Indian Visa office or book an appointment for the same when i m in india.
Is there any other way to get travel document that you know.

Apply thro VFS India. It takes around 2 weeks time.

Can i apply from Canada, or I have to be in India to apply.
Do they need my passport for that??

You have to be in India. You cannot apply from Canada. Yes - they will need your passport.

what is VFS as mentioned in this discussion ?
how they can issue Travel document , on what basis ?
