I'm a citizen of Austria who landed in Canada in early June. My PR card hasn't arrived yet and I'm back in Europe for a week now.

My question: Is it possible for me to enter Canada on the strength of my passport alone (presenting my passport and my PR confirmation at immigration)? Austrian citizens do not need a visa to enter Canada, so it would be a bit illogical for me to be "worse off" now than before becoming a PR. Or is the travel document an absolute necessity?

thx!!!

You can travel with your Austrian passport.

You should take your passport and PR landing documents. Once you are PR, arriving just on your passport like a tourist could be seen as misrepresenting yourself. Show them the landing documents and explain that you had to leave after landing to finish up some things before your PR card had arrived. You shouldn't have any problems.
