Travel after submitting PR Card Renewal

Hello, my PR card is about to expire in November so I will submit the application for it, however I need to travel outside of Canada, and won't be returning for a few months. Is it ok for me to proceed with the application process? Can my husband bring my PR card to me when he receives it in the mail?

Sure no problem at all for your husband to bring it.

You often have to pick it up in person.

As Canuck implies you could be unlucky and be chosen to pick up in person, only you can do so. If this happens you will need to apply for a PRTD applications for which do not have a published processing time.

Thank you both for your responses. I understand that I will have to apply for the PRTD. I am thinking to travel to another country where the PRTD is processed faster and applying form there. Any ideas on any other countries where PRTD is processed faster?
