Hello.

Jeff again.

Quick question - Do you think it will be OK if I do the translation of my pay stubs myself? I have worked as a translator for over six years. I got my wife's Japanese family registry translated by someone else. I really do not want to pay for a job that I can do.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks!

J

I think it should be fine. The more official documents are the ones that they require a certified translation.

check the guide carefully! go to guide on CIC, and Ctrl+ F for "translate"

it is written that documents cannot be translated by family members :( sorry

My wife translated our company ID cards and also our ID cards for our apartment. No problem. Like I said, official documents are the ones that need to have a certified translation, but I guess it also depends on your visa office. HK seems cool...

Fencesitter,

Thanks for the reply. I thought I could do the translations myself - at least the one's that do not need to be certified.

Thanks for the info!

Cheers!
