Hello all, I am applying outland application for my wife who lives in China.
I am asked to provide photocopies of the following documents:

birth certificate
national id card
The household register called the “hukou”.
Marriage certificate

They are in Chinese, do they need to be translated?

Thank you all!

anything that's NOT in English will need to be translated in full document.
My wife did the same thing.
so they all need to be certified and then get translated?

and then submit both the certified chinese copy and the translation of the certified?

Yes, you need to get a certified translation of each document. Then you also need to send in certified copies of the original Chinese documents.
