Hello everybody! And thanks to whoever can help me a little bit with information since I'm doing this by my own.

I am 19 years old, and I'm planning to study a 3 years course on a college in Toronto. I know because I'm not a citizen or a permanent residence yet I'm not covered by the OHIP so I'm obligued to purchase a private health insurance plan. On my origin country my health insurance covers my hormone treatment. Such as, visiting a endocrinologist, gynecologist, the testosterone shots...

I've seen that the college i want to apply to offers me a health insurance plan, that only covers emergency situations.

I was wondering if any of you know a health insurance plan that covers my treatment. Doesn't matter the cost, I'm just seeing my options! Thank you so much.

It's not entirely clear what your question is. Can you clarify?

If you are an international student, you are covered for basic care under UHIP (university health plan).

Not looking for surgery, just the testosterone shots i need to have monthly. And well, regular check-ups with an
Endocrinologist. Just hormone therapy related...

I think you should be prepared that private insurance will not cover these costs. Private insurance generally does not include coverage for any pre-existing conditions because insurance companies do not want to sell a policy to someone where they know the costs of your treatment will be higher than the premiums you pay (this means they automatically lose money). I think you need to be prepared to pay for all of this yourself while you are in Canada.

UHIP does cover existing medical issues but because it is geared to young people coverage levels tend to be quite low since the majority of young people are not on many medications. I would suggest reading through the UHIP coverage documents.

UHIP and no insurance will pay for your transgender surgery.
This is incorrect. UHIP uses the exact same eligibility criteria for transgender-related surgeries as OHIP.
Source: I’m in the process of getting pre-approval for one, and a close friend has already had her surgery done with everything covered.

Does that mean I pay for it with my tax money?

No, UHIP is private insurance and international students pay premium for it, although the program itself is not for-profit.

However, OHIP (and all provincial healthcare plans in Canada) does cover gender-affirming surgeries with taxpayer money, just as it covers any other medically necessary surgery. Get angry all you want. lol.
