Can someone trade in TD_Ameritrade(USA) from Canada ( to avoid commissions )?

If I were to trade in TD_Ameritrade(USA) from Canada,How will the taxes work in that case? Does US-Canada tax treaty help ?
My US Trading Account was opened when I was living in US (on H1 work-visa) with my SSN.

Better to call TD and ask. It predominantly depends upon your tax status in US. If you are US resident, you can do this without any restrictions. But if you are Canadian resident and non resident of US (like commuter), it depends purely on the brokerage firm. Some let you do stocks and ETFs, but place restrictions on buying mutual funds. Some don't allow anything and close your account. Some might be fine for anything.
