My mother-in-law's tourist visa has been approved last year. She hasn't been able to travel yet due to the Covid pandemic. The host or person who invited her is my husband with my name as a supporting person in the invitation letter (we're both cdn citizens). She plans to just stay with us (here in BC)for 1 month and travel to Ontario to spend the rest or 5 months with her other son (my husband's brother) who has a temporary working permit visa.

  • Will there be any legal issues on this, since on the invitation letter, it's stated that she should be staying with us and we'll provide accommodation, living allowance etc.?
  • Is she allowed to do this?

Any advice, tip is really appreciated!

No, there will be no issues whatsoever once she clears the immigration.

I hope it helps!

Thank you.

If she is to extend her visa, should she stay with the host in order for it to be approved?

Thank you.

If she is to extend her visa, should she stay with the host in order for it to be approved?

It is not mandatory but it is advised to follow it. Approval has nothing to do with it since they are not going to verify the physical location of applicant where she is.

I hope it helps!
