Tourist visa info after work visa expires

Hi im assuming i wont have my commo law application done before my.work visa ends in april due to relationship issues...

I have read Australians dont need a tourist visa only the Eta if i arrove by plane? Is this correct? when my vosa ends should I leave and then return??

I want to stay longer, i dont need to continue working due to my savings and u have free accomodation
