Where did I go wrong?

  • I have full time schooling until Grade 1 - Grade 12
3 years part time Bachelour Degree in commerce
    proficient in English
10+ years of professional experience (NOC 0213)
    wife has bachelour degree
    age: 35

total shows: 65 although earlier it showed 71!

Where did I calculated wrong or do they still consider 65 based on higher professional experience ??

Please advise

Anyone, please comment?

how much are you counting for proficiency in English and where are you calculating?

I am using automatic calculator on CIC website. Not sure how much it is assuming for English (I selected HIGH for all options).

67 points - 16 points (high IELTS)=51points minimum u have to score in other
fields
and if u score 14 or 12 or 10 points in IELTS means u need to get more then 51 points in other field ... make sense ??!!

Yes it makes.

I calculated my points here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/assess/index.asp

Hi mate,

Remember that the points calculator considers FULL TIME OR FULL TIME EQUIVALENT STUDIES. So you will need to consider the full-time equivalent for your part time degree (meaning what is the actual duration of the degree, IF you followed it full time - make sure u get a letter from the uni with the transcripts mentioning the FTE).

For your 3-year part time degree, assuming the FTE is 2 years, u got 20 points
High proficiency in English for all 4 categories - 16 points
4+ years of work exp - 21 points
Age between 21-49 - 10 points
Wife's bachelor degree - 4 points

U got 71. Why are you worried???

Hello Chouhans,
Have you taken ielts before awarding 16points for yourself in language ability?
Many people have assumed they are highly proficient in it but were proved wrong with the test result.
My advice? Do ielts and be at a safer side.
