Go through it
http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/
Bring your old license and validation/ authentication letter of your license. It should be on the letter head of issuing authority and should be fresh one.
To get Ontario driving license one does not need international drivers license.

Yes, an IDP is just a translation of your local driver's license.
