Hi everyone...

To those of you who already got their documents certified/legalised by a notary:

I'm just wondering...as you know, according to the CIC:

To have a photocopy of a document certified, an authorized person must compare the original document to the photocopy and must print the following on the photocopy:

“I certify that this is a true copy of the original document”,
the name of the original document,
the date of the certification,
his or her name,
his or her official position or title, and
his or her signature.

And I am wondering how your notary printed those sentences on your copies: was it at the back or what? was the CIC fine with that? Many of our documents don't have enough white space at the front (main content of the documents), so we're wondering if any of you got their legalisation written at the back...

Cheers!

if it is a complete page document, he put it on the back, otherwise if it is photocopy of passport there is enough space on photocopy paper to put it on the front at the bottom. I don't know where you are from but normally these Notary public knows this very well they do it everyday so don't worry just bring yor paper to him and he will know what to do. In my country they have a stamp with everything already written on it so it take not much space.

From Indonesia... :)

The notary said that in Indonesia, it's legal and acceptable to write the legalisation at the back. We are wondering because this is for submission to the Canadian government, and we don't know whether writing the legalisation at the back is accepted by Canada....which is why I am asking how successful applicants did theirs... =)

Keep the replies coming please people... :-)
