I totally agree with this. I would love to see stats showing the location of applicants who made it into the caps over the last few years. I'm betting 90% is ON applicants. Not fair at all. It really should be allocated provincially.
I agree as well :( :( :( :( very frustrating!!

Better if CIC will based it on population per province and should be received per local CIC office.

Province Population Per Province Number Application Per Province
Nunavut 36,687 6
Alberta 4,145,992 582
Saskatchewan 1,129,899 159
Yukon 36,758 6
Ontario 13,730,187 1925
Manitoba 1,286,323 181
British Columbia 4,657,947 653
Northwest Territories 43,795 7
Prince Edward Island 146,524 21
Quebec 8,236,310 1155
Nova Scotia 943,932 133
Newfoundldand Labrador 526,837 74
New Brunswick 754,643 106
TOTAL 35,675,834 5000
Still not fair because majority of population are native Canadians with no desire to sponsor oversea parents. If you want a purely fair system then go with the population of immigrants who are interested in bringing parents here.
There is no ideal solution to this so CIC just picked something that is easiest for them to deal with, even though not fair to families.

This looks roughly correct based on the spreadsheet.
Unfortunately, I can't access the spreadsheet.
I was able to show last year based on sample size of the applicants on this forum the exact cut-off.
I hope those charts are still there.

Just a rough math: If it takes 10 seconds (on an avg considering fatigue, break, etc) for one person to receive one application. Considering there are 5 parallel servers. Number of applications received in a 8 hr day

(5 x 8 x 60 x 60)/10 = 14,400 applications on the first day.

Now divide this number into the same ratios based on delivery time tags. This is the projected result.

I highly doubt 9:43 AM time tag of Purolator. This is perhaps the time when the driver must have entered the CPC's premises.

This was my second attempt !! :'(

Alberta and BC have similar population but BC has a lot more immigrants so there are more who would qualify to bring parents here. Under the population driven quota allocation system, it is not fair for BC.

You guys are missing the fact that the couriers report the time *they* delivered the packages. Which means some couriers will enter the time a) they started in line, b) other when the reach the window and c) others AFTER they have submitted all the packages.

Based on what I'm reading, HappyRoad Express, Metro Mississauga and VW were 1-2-4. Meaning, even though they are reporting 8:21am, 8:45am and ? ? ? they were all probably ahead of UPS, Fedex and Purolator who are reporting 8:31am, 9:19am and 9:43am.

I would expect the following today:

HappyRoad before 8:30am = 300
Metro before 8:30am = 300
#4 Courier before8:30am = 300
VW before 8:30am = 300

UPS after 8:30am= 700
Fedex after UPS = 700
Purolator after Fedex = 700
Other Local Couriers throughout day = 700

Total = approx. 4000 applications

Canada Post.... unsure? ? ? Either way, seems like the cap was probably met sometime today.

Mine just says in transit and nothing else.

I again called Purolator and ask them where is my app..is it in Edmonton or is it in Mississauga?? he told me the same old story that delivery drivers scanner broke down and he had 700 applications. he was in line before 9am so your package might have been delivered but it wont update now but may be later. But I highly doubt this bcoz no one is saying it 100% as to what happened to the shipment and where is it exactly.
Yes, same for me.. is amazing that this is a shipping company and there is no way for them to know exactly where are our 700 packages.. or where was the the LAST true location.. each person you talk to will give you a different story everytime.

Based on what I'm reading, HappyRoad Express, Metro Mississauga and VW were 1-2-3. Meaning, even though they are reporting 8:21am, 8:45am and ??? they were all probably ahead of UPS, Fedex and Purolator who are reporting 8:31am, 9:19am and 9:43am.

VW claim they are the 4th in line, so go find the third courier. I talked to my guy in VW.

Maybe it is not that they do not know. They just don't want to admit they screwed up and get yelled at or whatever!

I think the order was more like this:

8:21Happy Road Express1000
8:21?The Messengers Express250
8:21?VW Express250
8:30BNS50?
8:31UPS1000?
8:40??50?
8:45Metro Mississauga50?
8:45GTA Express50?
9:00Messengers Int'l50?
9:19FedEx1000?
9:20Current Express50?
9:43Purolator1000?

Hope the number is dead on.
If so, I barely made it.
I was going to use UPS or Fedex but changed to Puro in last minute after looking at last year's stats.
Obliviously, each year is different, mind as well flip a coin..

I am done with this process. It doesn't make sense how some applications using local couriers can get through while others submitting from other cities get stuck or have to rely on couriers to make it on time in a time window which each year will become more and more tight. We should all write to our MPs to make this system fair and equal for those who lived outside GTA. I will suggest a window of a full month to apply and then a lottery system to select the valid applications.
sorry to hear that, and couldn't agree more.
This was first time applying for me and until today, I had no idea, that the most critical part and the fate of my application is on the hands of couriers....
I don;t know how they can fix it but this is definitely not the way to do it.

Anyone have any news contacts who we can raise awareness of this issue? It seems like this "fair" system has turned into a lottery.

Did you ask your guy if Metro Mississauga was 2nd in line? I am not sure anymore... I know my courier guy reported 8:45am based on the time when he completed everything and about to leave....
