The advice freaked me out to be honest and even made me rethink my own immigration. It is one thing to be so far away from family and quire another to not be able to see them.

May I ask where you got the tickets done? And how did you manage her stay details since you wouldn't have them yet?

I could use some advice on applying for my parents because I've become very confused. Appreciate your response

I used getitinerary.com -it costed me 20$. For the stay I did not mention anything.

I have found good experts on the express entry side of the forum from whom I have learned a lot about the Express entry process but here I am not that impressed. Its more fear mongering and they think every one wants to just enter Canada by hook or crook.

Thanks! I agree on the second point. Same experience.

They’re also racist with the seniormost forum member suggesting ridiculous and unethical practices. Recall this person suggested wheelchair access for someone’s parents (who only knew Telugu), and I differed with her opinion. She then responded stating if I have ever travelled within India- the kid doesn’t realize I am a frequent business traveler in a senior capacity here in Toronto (and was back in India). The 2nd instance was when I wrote in Malayalam and then Kannada- the seniormost member stated that Kannadigas are all polite unlike Malayalee/Keralites.

Bottom-line:

I reckon she is an Indian-origin Canadian, who advises people on such diversionary tactics.

@Jaywalker, @Jakev would you be able to share the covering letter that you submitted with the application? I only need it as reference and won't be copying any info.

Hey - It was a straightforward letter asking for visa mentioning my current status and why I need it. I was very open and stated all the facts.

I cannot share the letter as is because it has all the personal situations and details.

No worries. Just one last question: was this letter in addition to the covering letter/purpose of visit document? Or did you write the letter on their behalf? That's basically what I wanted to see the letter for.

Yes the cover letter was the main letter- it was written by my mom stating all the facts.

Sorry for bothering you so much:

Did you share any details of your CoPR and landing date?

Is your mom landing with you or later (since you submitted provisional tickets)?

How much time before your landing date did you file for her visa?

I included my UCI number - She is landing with me. 1.5 months before landing date.

@Jakev did you got the passport back for your mom in law? For mine its still awaited and submitted at ndvo. Let me know once you get it back whether you got multiple entry and validity.

It’s been ‘approved completely’ on the CIC website with the counter foil mentioned till 2028. When I checked the VFS site, it also states that the passport has been couriered today. Hope this helps.
