Hey everyone,
I'm an inland applicant who lives in the GTA. I sent my documents to the Mississauga address in July 2017 and CIC received my application on July 31, 2017. I'm applying under the Common-Law Partner Sponsorship program and I'm the only applicant (no dependents, no parents or other family listed, etc) I'm currently on a study permit and that has been the case for pretty much my whole life (I grew up here and have Canadian-born family). I didn't request an OWP.
My timeline is in my signature. I just had my medicals done last week and the clinic hasn't submitted them yet but should do that soon. I have a couple questions:
1. When CIC requested medicals, they sent me a form (IMM 1017E) pre-filled with my personal info. It said to bring it to the clinic, but the people there didn't care at all. They did ask for my IME number that was on the form, confirmed my identity etc. They only do permanent residency medical exams, so I'm guessing they knew what they were doing. Right?
2. When I submitted my police certificate a few months ago, they didn't ask for my fingerprints. The certificate I got clearly stated "Immigration" as the reason for requesting it. My file on CIC has been showing this for a few months:
Biometrics We do not need your fingerprints. We will send you a message if this changes.
Background check We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.
So I'm guessing they don't care? If that changes anything, I grew up in Canada and I only needed a Canadian police certificate. Maybe they don't care about fingerprints if you haven't lived anywhere else (or stayed more than 6 months)?
3. So, what are my next steps once the clinic has submitted my medicals? Just wait some more? Is my SO (sponsor) supposed to receive an email or something, or is that much later? If someone can break everything down for me, I would really appreciate it!
This is what my CIC file looks like:
Application status We are processing your application. We will send you a message when there is an update or if we need more information from you.
Review of eligibility Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start reviewing your eligibility.
Review of medical results We have requested a medical exam. Check your messages below for details.
Review of additional documents Not applicable.
Interview You do not need an interview. We will send you a message if this changes.
Biometrics We do not need your fingerprints. We will send you a message if this changes.
Background check We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.
Final decision Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.
4. I've noticed some members on this forum have a more detailed timeline. For example "AOR Received - Date
On X day, we sent you additional correspondance.
etc"
Where can I find this information? Is it only available in certain cases (contacting CIC, outland applications?) And what is AOR exactly?
Thanks everyone!
