Hi,
I'm a successful applicant of IEC Australia for an open work permit (remarkably, it only took 2 weeks from them receiving the documents to my receiving the Letter of Introduction...) and I have everything ready to go for the flight over (health insurance, bank statement for proof of funds, LOI), but from where I'm flying I can't get a direct flight to my final destination, Edmonton; I have to pass through Toronto first. Is the work permit issued to me at my very first port of entry i.e. Toronto? If so, how long does this take (including queue) so I can book the flights an adequate time apart?
Thanks :)

edit: I keep seeing things on these forums talking about Labour Market Opinions (LMOs, I think?); as an IEC participant, do I need one of these? Nothing regarding them was ever mentioned on the IEC website...

1. Will be issued at Toronto. It could take 15 minutes, it could take 3 hours no one knows how busy it will be when your flight arrives. So leave at least 4 hours between connections.
2. No, you don't need a LMO.

Thanks for the info PMM :)
Having never been to Toronto Airport, how does the process work? Do I get the work permit at the usual border control posts where they check my passport, or do I have to go to a different part somewhere?

Tell the primary inspection office that you have a LOI for an IEC work permit, and you will be referred to the Immigration section.
