Time for a Class Action. Thoughts? Lessons we could learn from previous lawsuits against MIDI? Firms who might be interested in getting this certified?

We need to sue MIDI for issuing more CSQs than it allows Ottowa to process, and we need to sue Ottowa for allowing Quebec to continue these discriminatory immigration practices in issuing and processing CSQs this way. People waiting for over 4 years compared to 6 months is absurd.

Any legal minds here with input on how/ if/ in which jurisdiction we could get this/these class actions certified?

There was a class action against Quebec that was finalized last year. I don't know which law firm handled this case but that might be a good start. The settlement terms under this class action was a partial fee refund to those in scope.

Yes, I actually contacted firms that have gotten class actions against MIDI certified in the past. Wanted to discuss suing for language exam fees compensation (didn't follow through because I was one of lucky few invited to apply after Bill 9). Anyway, so a few expressed interest at the time.

Based on previous class actions, it's pretty clear that non-citizens do in fact have standing in Quebec court to sue as part of class action, so that shouldn't be a problem. Who would be interested?
