I am currently in India waiting for my passport to be stamped, and uncertain when the flights will open up.

However, I am planning to close my bank account in the UAE as soon as possible. I have some points in my card that I can redeem to buy tickets.

Does it make sense if I buy a ticket now, for let's say August. God forbid, if the flight gets postponed / cancelled, what happens in those scenarios most likely?

Thanks

Most airlines are being flexible about rescheduling and refunds due to the pandemic, you need to check the fare class. If the airline cancels on you then you should always get a refund, some will allow one free change or a credit voucher for future use. It really boils down to the airline policy and class of ticket booked.

Thanks. Any particular airline safest / most reliable according to you? Thanks

At the moment Air Canada has extended its refund policy for another 30days during covid. Initially, there were issuing credit and not a refund, but after outcry from travellers and after the Federal Government injected combination of equity and bailout there are now offering refund.
You can choose Air Canada if they offer direct flight

I think Air Canada/ Air India is all booked out.
From the partner site, I was able to see Air Canada / Air India flights till recenty.

Now, all I see is Delta, British Airwars, Etihad, Luftansa, Turkish airlines, KLM, American Airlines, United, Qatar, Emirates... And rates have shot up crazy!
