Hello everyone!

Still going through the process, waiting on the FBI clearance to come back, sent it beginning of July, so we expect it to be here mid September, maybe later :(

I have a question re: sponsorship and social assistance... I am currently applying for BC MSP, the basic healthcare provider here. I am hoping to apply for Premium Assistance, which basically means that because I make less than 30 000 a year, I will pay less per month for basic coverage. I am wondering, however, if this qualifies as social assistance? I know that as a sponsor you cannot be on social assistance...I don't think that Premium Assistance counts as social assistance, but if it does I would rather pay the $60 a month and still be eligible as a sponsor...any thoughts?

I'm pretty sure premium assistance through BC MSP is not what CIC considers to be social assistance (welfare) because you can be working and elligible for the premium assistance. It's basically a scaled fee reduction for people who make under a certain amount of money each year (the less you make the less you pay).

Considering that applying for premium assistance is mandatory with some health benefit plans, I believe that it should be okay.

I was woken up by an e-mail notification from E-Cas tracker! After such a long wait for changes, we FINALLY got word that my husband's medical has been received :) Hoping for PPR to come shortly after!

For those who may be checking e-cas multiple times on a daily basis like myself and haven't seen any changes in a long time, Buffalo supposedly doesn't really use e-cas to make updates. I had e-mailed them to inquire about the process of my application since it had been over 3 months until any change was made. This was their reply to me:

"e-Cas is for applications processing within Canada only.

Immigration cases being processed in Visa offices outside Canada use a system different from that used to process similar applications in Canada. As a result, the e-Client Application Status (e-CAS) does not reflect the status of cases being processed in Buffalo."

Lienholder gave permission in a notorized letter to export car into Canada for the loan term. The US Customs Officer rejected the letter because the word "export" was not in the letter. Question: is this common practice or differing discretion?

Website: "Where title evidences third-party ownership/claims. If the used, self-propelled vehicle is leased or a recorded lien exists in the U.S., in addition to complying with paragraph (b)(1)(i) of this section, the provisional owner must provide to Customs a separate writing from the third-party-in interest which expressly provides that the subject vehicle may be exported. This writing must be on the third-party's letterhead paper and contain a complete description of the vehicle including the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), the name of the owner or lienholder of the leased vehicle, and the telephone numbers at which that owner or lienholder may be contacted and must bear an original signature of the third-party and state the date it was signed."

No communication from Buffalo, no PPR...this is getting crazy now waiting for visa. Everyone around seems to be getting it. I am actually afraid if they have my email wrong which I had on my application bcos I havn;t received 1 email from them, not even AOR, I forced it out of them by emailing again n again. God knows whats going on with the application when my file was transferred the same day as others to Buffalo. Could it be because we got married in India although I am settled in USA for last 8 yrs?? Everything is genuine, we gave in lots of proofs too. I have heard a person on Visa in USA and getting married outside North America, application usually takes longer that way?

Hi everyone! :)

Never posted before, but have been watching this thread for quite some time while waiting for my spouse visa to get through the quagmire that is Buffalo. Our sponsorship was approved February 2nd, 2011. In April, we had heard from Buffalo that they had received our application on February 6th. After that, total silence. No in process update on e-cas, no medicals received NOTHING. However, today I opened my email and my passport request was waiting!!

If you aren't hearing anything from them, they may still be processing your application!

Don't fret. We applied a month earlier than you and we're still in holding.

You could consider requesting your GCMS notes -- you'll be able to see the address (and e-mail address) they have on file for you. It took us about 4 weeks to get them, but they had been generated almost two weeks ago... they did a small amount of redaction on the FOSS notes so I think that's what took a little longer.

Received GCMS notes today... basically it's just slow -- there's nothing holding things up by the looks of things, but the file hadn't been touched (by the looks of things) between the end of April and mid-July.

See, that's what I don't understand. They state on their website that the applications are processed in the order they are received. I guess it is not so.

It most certainly is not.

The only thing that had been done on our file prior to 9-Aug-2011 was the RCMP check -- it had been requested end of April and completed (with no issues) a few days later.

There are a bunch of "Due Dates" in April 2012 -- exactly one year after the creation of the file. I'm not sure what that means... but regardless, that's there.

They don't have record of the medical being completed in GCMS, though it is in FOSS.
