Guys... I just have to ask, is there Anyone reading this thread that doesn't realize that this process has the capability of lasting many months, a year, two years, or maybe never coming through with a positive result?

Anyone?

Anyone that hasn't spent nights awake worrying, and thinking about that?

We're just trying to be positive and hopeful. We're not trying to be unrealistic. We're trying to gain some information. Knowing how the other applications are processing in your timeline is helpful, so you know if you need to check with them and see if your file has been set aside, or if you're missing something.

I don't know why our hope is so offensive that we need to be stomped down three times in as many days.

I'm really very sorry that your processes have taken so long. Some of ours will be in the 30%, some of ours will be in that last 20%. We understand that. But for now, we're excited and positive. And after us will be another excited and positive wave of applicants.

Please, don't stomp on us for having hope. We've heard loud and clear about the possible (and maybe even likely) months and months of waiting.

Thank you! I actually got quite frustrated reading some of the replies to my original comment. I am well aware the process might take 11 months, but why can't it be less than that? That's why we have the spreadsheet! We're not wishing for something impossible here. Looking at the spreadsheet, there's a LOT of people whose applications were completed in a timely manner. I think we have the right to be hopeful...

This forum can be such a source of comfort for me. It can also make me worry sometimes - but at least I can get information and advice/support from others who are going through the same thing as us!

I ended up contacting CIC via email. My email was forwarded to the processing team and I received a reply today that we had been recently sent a letter to my husband's US address. He is here visiting right now so we're enlisting his Dad to check his mail every day. I'm so anxious.. but trying to stay hopeful!

Hi forum friends I find your comments very helpful, and the timelines vary in most processes depending on each case, I would probably hasten to say that the professional people at VO's handle each situation in a case by case manner. However to reduce the amount of stress and anxiety that can be brought on by the wait when some seem to be speedier than others I would simply say HOPE FOR THE BEST AND PREPARE FOR THE WORST

Unfortunately the letter said they took too long to look at our file and now my husband has to get another FBI check.. Why do they do this??

My other thought is that perhaps they lost it - Buffalo seems notorious for losing documents. My hubby's dad is going to scan the letter for us so that we can see the precise wording. Has anyone had this happen to them? Any advice? When does the FBI check expire, exactly? We have a photocopy of it here.

It is so frustrating that 8 months later they send us this - After me having to prompt them for any information. I know that it's just "how it is" and this happens to soooo many people but WHY?

I have to take the things that are said here in small doses. I have found really great information and been uplifted, but I have also spent days feeling sick to my stomach and full of anxiety because of problems that I didn't even realize could exist.

We need to stay positive and supportive. This is a very stressful process without making it worse by being doom sayers.

I agree that the reduction in "parental" visas might be a really good thing for us!! We need to believe that and send positive energy out.

I refuse to believe that God/Universe/whatever wants us to be alone or away from our loved ones and that if we continue to be strong and support eachother it will make a difference!!

OKAY. So we read the letter. It says that an interview is not needed but in order to finalize our application they need an FBI record check.

We already did that so I am going to contact them and ask them to PLEASE have another look for it and in the meantime we will go get another one done. Hopefully the FBI can expedite the process so it doesn't take too long.

Hopefully this is the last thing that they need!

My passport has been delivered to Fort Erie today at 7:43 am. Now the countdown begins. AND tomorrow is my 21st birthday!! Wahoooo!

I think the "cutting back on visas" is actually good for the spousal applications. They won't be reducing staff, just reducing the number of files for *parental* visas that get processed each year.

That *should* mean that all other visas become noticeably faster.

I agree. Guess I came across a little more offensive than I meant. Sorry. I am not trying to burst anyone's bubble, I'm just saying don't put your hopes too high because it's a tricky and unpredictable course. I truly wish and hope nobody has to go through the wait that I endured and gets it as fast as possible. I had a bad experience, and want to make sure nobody gets their hopes as high as I has set and gets as heartbroken as I was. I missed a whole year of college because I had my hopes set on being processed in 4-5 months.

Jessibee--I think a FBI clearance expires after 6 months (that's what I've heard recently on here). Usually though they extend it if your background check is clear. Like in my case, technically it should be expired as of 5 months ago, but they didn't ask for mine. I wonder if they lost it? I'm so sorry that you have to go through with this. Hopefully that's the last thing that they need and you'll get PPR soon!
