I got my sponsorship around the same time you did, so hopefully I'm next!!

Did you get a change on ecas?

did u email buffalo for an update??

No, I'll wait a bit longer before I do.. some people who got approved at the beginning of June are still waiting, so I won't pester them just yet :)

Hi All,

Thought I'd drop by and say hello since I'm one of you. :)

I've been approved as a sponsor and my file has been sent to Buffalo (I presume). But no news or communication apart from that. Guessing it's going to be a few more weeks at least before I (or my husband) hear anything.

There was no change for either client ID number for e-Cas. Perhaps it will change tomorrow?

eCAS is usually updated on Tuesdays so you should see something tomorrow, I think :)

Hey giggles, since your file was forwarded to the LA consulate, does that mean that you will be sending your PPR there, of course, upon request?

The date on my e-case doesn’t match with the automated phone service message.
Under e-case showing “in process” from June 3. The phone service say that my case was forwarded on July 23 and the sponsorship was forwarded on July 9 (previously said June 3 :o )
How is this possible?????????? As the time goes by my case is going backward???????? How? How?

I'm not sure. I haven't heard from anyone on this forum that has actually completed the process through a satellite office so I don't know what the procedure is. The standard "rule" is that all PR visas come from Buffalo, though, so maybe once LA has done my background checks and "approved" my app or whatnot, they will send it back to Buffalo?? I sure hope my visa can be issued by the LA office since that will cut down a lot on the time it takes for them to send/receive passports or other correspondence. I might be able to drive in and get it, even? I don't know.

We shall just have wait and see. It'll be a surprise! Oh joy.

The file doesn't get transferred back to Buffalo.
My file is at the NYC office and that's where I am to get the PPR from.

How can you be so sure, OnTheMove? I haven't read anything on the CIC website or this forum that says this.

I don't know for sure but I have read on here where other members have had to send their PP to the NYC office.. but I can't say for sure if it's like that in every case.

NYC consulate states:

Approved Applicants for Permanent Residence

Submissions of passports are only accepted by mail. Passports are returned by mail within 30 business days. This does not include mailing time.
For mailing instructions, please click here.

....seems pretty clear that once approved, the NYC office will send me the PPR
....plus it wouldn't make sense for them to transfer the file back to Buffalo just so Buffalo could the PPR

Yeah that does sound pretty clear. :) I am going to do some more searches to see what I can find out but to date I haven't seen anything like that on the LA website.

It makes sense to me if they are just outsourcing to use the other office's "manpower" but the consulates don't actually have the authority to issue PR visas. They issue work visas and visitors visas but only Buffalo has the power to issue PR visas for the US. For example this page:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english//information/offices/missions/los-angeles.asp

says they don't service immigrants and to see the Buffalo page. Says the same thing on the New York page. Anyway, it could be different in these circumstances but, as I mentioned originally, the "standard" procedure is that all PR visas come from Buffalo.

Im reposting this from the May thread

I finally broke down and emailed them through the case specific inquiry. I asked them how to change my address since I have moved back to Canada with our daughter and my husband is still in the US. I also asked them to confirm that they had received the FBI prints that I had Fed Ex'ed to them after receiving the sponsorship approval but prior to hearing from B'lo. They did receive them.. I also asked them if they could tell me when they would start processing and they said that processing had started. Nothing shows on ecas yet and we havent received the letter yet but this is good news.

Oh YAY! That's good to hear. I hope I see SOMETHING soon. It's been two full months now since it was sent to Buffalo and I've not heard anything.
